BP was enthousiastic about the idea and the First World Jamboree took place in London in 1920, at a venue bearing the symbolic, for Greece, name "Olympia". Ever since, scouts from all over the world gather in World Jamborees, in a new place every 4 years.
In August 1963, Greece welcomed the scouts of the world for what went down in history as one of the best jamborees ever, the 11th World Scout Jamboree under the motto “Scout Higher and Wider”. To host the unique event, Greece offered one of its most historic and symbolic landmarks: the valley of Marathon.
On August 1st, 2013, exactly 50 years from the opening of the 11th World Jamboree, the golden days of August 1963 came alive again through an unprecedented collection of facts, documents, photographs, audiovisual material and souvenirs from the "Marathon Jamboree", presented herein.
Starting January 1st, 2023, we celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Jamboree and will be adding new exciting material up to August 1st, 2023, which will mark exactly 60 years from the opening at Marathon.
Welcome to the
